On 2014, posters showing a doctor sitting on the shoulders of a teacher set an outrage among many medical groups against the Bureau of Internal Revenue. This name-and-shame campaign was launched by the department months back in an aim to increase tax compliance of individuals, especially the professional and self-employed. Then, the first attack was made against doctors who do not pay the right taxes, followed by lawyers and more.
This year though, the agency changed its scheme in encouraging individual to pay their taxes, of which I found more effective. By using pathos technique, the new campaign launched is targeting the soft emotions of the viewers.
Angat Pa, Pinas! was uploaded on YouTube last February 3. The video appeals great attack on your soft spot as a human, showing what being tax-responsible of every individual can do. That complying to paying our tax is very imperative in nation building. By doing so, hand in hand, we can not only build a strong foundation for the present, but most importantly a bright future for the generation next in line. And what more, the music and its lyrics are strikingly bold.
