In 2021, tablets are clearly not dead. We’ve seen Lenovo out multiple budget tablets for home use, while Huawei and Samsung continue to offer high-end ones that can compete against Apple’s iPad Pro. This year, Xiaomi is releasing its Mi Pad 5 Series in China, carrying one model for budget-conscious consumers and another with high-end specs.
Based on certification, the Mi Pad 5 will carry two 4260mAh cells, equalling to 8720mAh battery. The large battery is tasked to power the 120Hz LCD 16:10 display of the Mi Pad 5 Pro that also features 240 touch rate and pen support with 4096 levels of touch. Furthermore, the Pro model will run on Dimensity 1200 SoC.
The vanilla Mi Pad 5 is expected to be the more budget tablet, featuring Snapdragon 870 chipset. But other than that, we’re pretty much left in the dark. According to rumors, the Mi Pad 5 Series might have a starting price of ¥3000 or around ₱22,000 when roughly converted to Philippine peso.
As for the release date of the Mi Pad 5 Series, expect it to be around 2nd half of the year.
