Xiaomi Civi 1S vs Xiaomi Civi 2—Specs Comparison

Xiaomi updated the CC series with the new Civi series last year, a lineup of smartphones centered on design and selfie cameras. This year has seen the debut of two new phones in this series, the most recent being the Xiaomi Civi 2, which was introduced just a few days ago, towards the end of last month. Prior to this gadget, the Chinese conglomerate produced the Xiaomi Civi 1S earlier this year, an improvement to the first phone in the series, which was released in 2021. The current two gadgets in the series have some similarities, and many people are asking if it is preferable to buy the older one to save money or pay more for the latest item. We’ll attempt to help you find out by comparing the characteristics of the Xiaomi Civi 1S with the Xiaomi Civi 2.

Design

Both the Xiaomi Civi 1S and the Xiaomi Civi 2 have fantastic design that places them among the most attractive phones ever produced. Despite the fact that it is an older phone, I prefer the Xiaomi Civi 1S for a few reasons. To begin with, it is a slimmer and lighter phone, which allows it to fit better in your hands, especially if they are little. Both phones are made of aluminum and have a glass back that is covered by Gorilla Glass 5, however, the 1S has a greater screen-to-body ratio. The new model features a pill-shaped punch hole, whilst the earlier model has a single punch hole for a more minimalistic appearance. It also has a smaller and less intrusive camera module. These are the reasons why I prefer the Xiaomi Civi 1S.

Display

In terms of display, essentially little changed between the Xiaomi Civi 1S and the Xiaomi Civi 2. They have OLED displays that display bright colors and deep blacks, and they can display up to one billion colors. These panels have a size of 6.55 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, as well as Dolby Vision compatibility, HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The only significant variation between these displays is the shape of the punch hole, which, as previously stated, has no effect on image quality. The second difference is that the Xiaomi Civi 2 has a greater peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits. The Xiaomi Civi 1S boasts stereo speakers, however, its internal opponent just has a mono speaker, which is a more significant distinction.

Camera

The Xiaomi Civi 2’s camera configuration is undeniably superior. It has a triple rear camera system that includes a primary 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 focal aperture, a fantastic 20MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 focal aperture, and a 2MP macro camera. It also sports a front-facing dual camera with a 32MP primary sensor and a 32MP ultrawide shooter, as well as a front-facing LED light. It is one of the most technologically advanced selfie phones available. The Xiaomi Civi 1S features a triple back camera with a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera, as well as a single 32MP selfie shooter on the front.

Specs & Performance

The availability of an updated chipset allows the Xiaomi Civi 2 to function better. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile platform from Qualcomm is constructed on a 4 nm manufacturing process and features an octa-core architecture with a maximum clock frequency of 2.4 GHz. This chipset is accompanied by 8 or 12GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of UFS 2.2 native storage. The Xiaomi Civi 1S is not far behind its internal competition, but its processor is inferior: we’re talking about Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, which was created using a 6 nm manufacturing technique. It features an octa-core architecture consisting of a Cortex A78 CPU with a maximum frequency of 2.5 GHz, three Cortex A78 CPUs with a frequency of 2.4 GHz, four Cortex A55 CPUs with a frequency of 1.9 GHz, and an Adreno 642L GPU. Both of these Xiaomi smartphones come pre-installed with Android 12 and MIUI 13.

Battery

These two phones have identical battery capacities: 4500 mAh. However, the Xiaomi Civi 2 can promise a longer battery life since its processor is created with a superior 4 nm manufacturing technology, resulting in reduced energy usage. It also has a quicker charging method with a power of 67W.

Price & Availability

The Xiaomi Civi 2’s initial pricing in the Chinese market generally converts to €350 or $350 (around Php20,214) at the current exchange rate, but the Xiaomi Civi 1S requires at least €330 or $330 (roughly Php19,432), however, it presently offers better street prices. Which one would you choose?
