5 Reasons Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a Different Film

We are a few days from the release of the most-anticipated superhero epic and almost everyone is excited to see the full vision of Zack Snyder being realized. Although, I get that there are speculations that this is the same movie that was released last 2017. I tell you, my friend, this is a different movie. Right now, let me give you at least five reasons why Zack Snyder’s Justice League is different from the theatrical released Justice League.

5. It is quite longer than before

It has been confirmed countless times by Zack Snyder himself that his version would be longer. It will clock 214 minutes which is 4 hours long. Recently, it was confirmed that the movie would at least be 4 hours long and two minutes longer. This is at least twice the length the theatrical version had. Also, it is also confirmed that the movie is divided into 6 chapters. Good thing, this will be released in HBO Max, HBO Go if you are in Asian territories, so you can either watch it by chapters or if you are one hardcore DC fan, you can view it as a whole. Just make sure to have some time to at least stretch your legs or go on a potty break.

4. The Knightmare Sequence

One of the divisive moments in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (aside from the infamous Martha scene) was the dream sequence Bruce Wayne had. This was ultimately known as the Knightmare Sequence where Batman had a vision of the future where Superman rules over Earth. Then it was interrupted by a time-traveling Flash warning Bruce of the impending danger. A lot of viewers were confused on what is the significance of the scene which doesn’t connect to the story of the film. In 2017’s Justice League, fans were eager to get their answers but unfortunately, it was a completely different movie that never acknowledges the previous. But, in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, we will get our answers. In recent trailers, we have witnessed that there will be a Knightmare Sequence, showing us what might happen and what made Flash go back to the past and warn Batman.

3. The Bad Guys

In the 2017 movie, Steppenwolf was the main villain of the movie. Although, there was a scene where Darkseid’s name was mentioned he never made an appearance. Also, we got to see Deathstroke which was played by Joe Manganiello, and Jesse Eisenberg reprising his role as Lex Luthor. But now, it seems that we are going to witness not just one or two or three villains. In the trailers, it shows that there would be at least a handful of bad guys in the movie either with different motives or playing a major role in the movie. We get to see not only Steppenwolf, Deathstroke, and Lex Luthor but we are going to get Darkseid, Desaad, Granny Goodness (yes, that is her actual name), and even The Joker himself, played by Jared Leto. We can expect that these villains would play a major role in the movie.

2. More time for Character Development

If you ever got the chance to watch Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, you at least get to see some development in terms of the characters. You see them grow for the better or even for the worse. But somehow, when you watch Justice League (2017), the movie feels off, especially with the main characters. It is as if the events in the previous movie never happened and if they do mention the events it is only on passing. But in Zack’s version, everyone gets their own shining moment. Everyone has their spot in the limelight. They grow as a character as they get involved in the story’s narrative and it set-asides slapstick and petty jokes that were deemed inappropriate. Also, the movie clearly closes the arc of characters such as Superman, Batman, and even Cyborg in a satisfying way and not feel that it was rushed.

1. Zack Snyder’s Full Vision for the League

Comparing the Justice League film that was released four years ago with Zack Snyder’s movie is like comparing apples and oranges. You can clearly see and taste the difference. The 2017 film skipped a lot of character developments, rewrote inappropriate jokes, and even demeaned the whole League. But with this new version, we get to see a different take from every character which stays true to the comics and at the same time satisfies every DC fan. With this new version, Zack Snyder creates a superhero epic not just to entertain but as well as helps us think and realize what it truly means to be a hero. His vision is to show how we can embody hope and inspire others especially people who have lost it.

For these reasons, I do hope that you are convinced to watch this superhero epic. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is available to stream in HBO Max and HBO Go, in Asian countries, this March 18.
