Last year, ZTE gained a lot of attention for the Axon 7, a flagship device with great performance, specifications, and a notably low price tag. A few days ago, ZTE launched another cheap handset in the USA – the Blade Z Max.
The Blade Z Max greets you with a big 6-inch Full HD LCD display with 2.5D scratch-resistant glass. Powered by an also big battery at 4,080mAh, it’s said to last talking straight for 31 hours or 22 days on standby, and a fingerprint scanner located on the back-side of the device.
When dual-cameras (rear) are now becoming a staple in smartphones, such feature is not usually offered in the budget category, but ZTE somehow made it work. The main shooter is a 16MP+2MP that allows you to have that beautiful bokeh, monochrome, and portrait affects everyone’s obsessed about. And up front is an 8MP selfie shooter.
Drawbacks? No phone is perfect at this price-range (or in any to be honest). To bring mid-range to flagship components down to a $130 phone, some corners are needed to be cut. In this case, it’s only equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can thankfully be expanded an additional 128GB.
But beating the Samsung Galaxy J7 in both price and specifications, we can’t really complain with the ZTE settling for a lower a Snapdragon 435 since it’s still a fairly capable chipset. The only smartphone I can think of to match this device is the local Cherry Mobile Flare P1 Plus, but then again it has lower specifications. The Blade Z Max will be available starting August 28 via MetroPCS for $129 MSRP or roughly Php 6,500.
