Given how pricey flagship smartphones have become, it seems like more and more brands are starting to provide affordable 5G mobile solutions by using a less powerful yet still capable chipset. Enter ZTE Axon 11. It’s the latest premium mid-range phone with 5G capability, thanks to Snapdragon 765G. For the 6GB/128GB model, the price starts at CNY 2698(~P19,400) while the 8GB/128GB sets you back at CNY 2998(~P21,600). As for the top model with 8GB/256GB, it costs CNY 3398(~P24,500). Availability remains to be seen, but speculations point out to March 30th release. As usual, the new phone is exclusively made for China.
Starting with the design, Axon 11 has a teardrop notch and a curvy screen that flows to the sides to eliminate bezels. Dubbed as the hyperbolic curved display, the diagonal size is 6.47″ in FHD+ AMOLED. The build features glass-metal-glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides, and an embedded under-screen fingerprint scanner on the front. However, there’s no headphone jack here. ZTE is touting its device as the lightest 5G phone, clocking in at 168g only. For comparison, the Galaxy S20+ is at 186g while the S20 is at 163g.
For the cameras, a total of five can be seen on Axon 11. The back features a quad-cam setup, featuring 64MP f1.9 sensor, 8MP f2.2 ultrawide, and two 2MP f2.4 lenses for macro and depth sensing. As for the selfie camera, a 20MP f2.0 sensor is housed within the notch. The battery is rated 4000mAh with 18W Quick Charge 4+ support. Running the latest MiFavor 10 based on Android 10 version, the new UI from ZTE features performance enhancements and camera features, such as adding BGM, stitching transition, and changing video speeds. In China, ZTE Axon 11 will come in white and black colors.
