Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi S2 in China. This Xiaomi smartphone is the new addition to the company’s “S” line, which refers to the “Selfie Series”. During the event in China, the company also put great emphasis on the smartphone’s front camera.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 features a 5.99″ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720. The rear of the device seems to be made of metal. The microUSB port is located underneath the phone along with the speakers. Meanwhile, its audio jack and is positioned at the top. The fingerprint scanner can be seen at the back of the phone.
As for its camera setup, it sports 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras with the features PDAF, LED flash, facial recognition, AI portrait mode, and HDR. The main highlight of the phone is its 16MP selfie camera with large 2μm pixels that aids in low light selfies. The company also uses AI to deliver picture-perfect selfies. There are two major AI modes, the AI portrait and AI beauty (makeup) mode.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is priced at PHP 7,990 and will be available in the market starting June 4 in Lazada.
