WhatsApp has introduced four new features for group chats, including permanent message pins, message history sharing for existing members, group statuses, and a filter for mentions and replies.
The first update lets users pin important messages indefinitely without setting an expiration time.
Users can also share recent message history with new group members after they have joined. To do this, they can tap the member’s name in the chat and choose to share recent messages. The shared messages remain end-to-end encrypted.
Another addition is Group Status, which lets members share updates with a specific group. Members can view, react to, and post their own statuses, which disappear after 24 hours.
WhatsApp is also adding a chat filter that shows unread group conversations where users have been mentioned or received direct replies, including messages that use @all.
