A compelling mid-range phone just launched in China, and it’s called the Vivo Y52s. Coming in as the second phone from the company with the Dimensity 720 chipset that carries 5G, the Y52s only retails for CNY 1598(~Php11,700) and CNY 1798(~Php13,200) for the 6GB and 8GB models, respectively. But much like other Dimensity-powered devices, the Y52s has no definite date for a potential global launch.
Available in Coral Sea, Monet, and Titanium Gray colors, Vivo Y52s features a frosted-like glass back finish that really looks attractive. There’s a rectangular camera hump that houses a 48MP sensor and 2MP depth lens, despite looking like as if there are three cameras. Though it’s unfortunate to see the company cut back on camera features, including the 8MP dewdrop selfie camera, the other aspects of the device compensate for it.
For starters, the 6.58″ FHD+ IPS LCD boasts a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sample rate. It’s even surprising to see DCI-P3 color gamut and HDR10 support for a device this cheap. Though storage expansion is not an option anymore, 128GB UFS 2.1 seems to be plenty enough for most users. No 64GB nor 256GB option, by the way.
Lastly, the 5000mAh battery supports 18W fast charging. The rest of the package includes an audio jack, loudspeaker, USB-C, and FunTouch 10.5 based on Android 10.
