Rakuten Viber users in the Philippines can now purchase travel eSIM data plans directly through the Viber app.
For the Philippines, Viber lists Globe as the supported carrier. The eSIM is intended for mobile data and does not provide a local phone number for regular calls or SMS.
How to Purchase?
To purchase a plan, users can open Viber, go to More > eSIM, select their destination, and choose a data package.
After payment, the eSIM can be installed through the phone’s cellular settings using the SM-DP+ address and activation code provided by Viber.
The travel eSIM automatically activates when the user arrives at the destination and connects to a supported local network. It must be activated within 90 days of purchase.
The service provides mobile data only and does not include a local phone number for traditional calls or SMS. Users can still use Viber for calls and messages through the eSIM’s data connection.
The service requires an eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked device, along with an internet connection during the initial purchase and setup.
