Get ready to get your mind blown as a modder took phone privacy to a whole new level! As posted at gfycat by @thund3rbolt, the video shows an iPhone 6,7, 8, or SE (2020) — because they all frickin’ look the same — goes under the intricate process of engineering of some sorts. Now, we’re not that technically inclined to describe everything that he did but, the “trick” here is polarization.
The iPhone in the video most likely is of LCD, as most iPhones with that kind of build and design. Unlike LED, it uses two techniques to display images. One is the backlit technology, letting the light pass through to illuminate pixels. Second is polarization, which makes the images clear and visible to human eyes. To make this possible on an LCD-based screen — a polarization filter acts as a layer after the light passes by. Of course, that’s the short story of it. You can ask Google for a long explanation. Either way, the modder removed the polarizer of the iPhone and pasted it on the eyeglass. From the video, it looks cool, futuristic, and out of this world. But essentially, any polarized glass will do the same effect.
Nevertheless, this is an awesome (yet complicated) process to make. Props to the guy who now has over 6 million views.
