The Mortal Kombat trailer has now been released and it is bloody (no pun intended) glorious. Be warned, the trailer shown below offers graphic violence and visual scenes that are not suitable for young audiences.
In the trailer, you can catch a glimpse of beloved Mortal Kombat characters. We can see Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Jax Briggs (Mehcad Brooks), Kano (Josh Lawson), Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Kung Lao (Max Huang), Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), Shang Tsung (Chin Han), Mileena (Sisi Stringer), Sub-Zero/Bi-Han (Joe Taslim), and Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada). The movie would serve as a reboot and it would be directed by Simon McQuoid.
The director even promised that fans of the game would be pleased as they recognize some move sets familiar to the game especially Fatalities.
In an interview with IGN, McQuoid said, “The Fatalities were always in from the get-go, there was never any question from anyone at all. There was no resistance from the studio. They wanted them, I wanted them,” he then continues. “There’s a fatality from Kano, he ripped someone’s heart out. But what was important to me was that even when the Fatalities arrived, we couldn’t just do a Fatality and have it mean nothing. … It actually becomes an important ingredient in the rhythm of the action scene.”
For Mortal Kombat fans, we don’t have to wait much longer for the movie will be arriving on April 16, 2021, which will be available in cinemas and HBO Max.
