Tecno Phantom X2 With Dimensity 9000

The Phantom X, Tecno’s high-end phone, came out last year, and it was mainly about the screen and especially the camera. The main module had a 50MP sensor that was 1/1.3″ in size. A follow-up is coming out, and it will be the most potent Tecno phone to date.

The original X had an Helio G95 chip, but Tecno almost always uses MediaTek chips. Since then, there have been 5G phones with a Dimensity 810 or 900, but none with a real flagship chip.

This is about to change with the Phantom X2 series. The company has confirmed that the upcoming phones will be powered by the Dimensity 9000. Even though it’s from 2021, it’s made on TSMC’s 4nm node, which is still used today for the Apple A16, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and the 8 Gen 2. Regarding performance, the AnTuTu scores for the Dimensity 9000 are about the same as those for the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Even with its high-end Phantom sub-brand, Tecno tries to keep prices low and chooses parts based on their value for money, so a Dimensity 9200 wouldn’t have been a good fit. Plus, the 9000 is still one of the chipsets with the fastest speeds.

The company has put a lot of effort into improving its camera technology, especially for phones like the Phantom X. With the extra processing power of the Imagiq 790 ISP, the X2 will build on that. It will be the first in the family, for example, to support HDR video from three cameras at once. Also, it gives Tecno’s Super-night Mode and things like multi-exposure HDR more power when they need to do the math.

On December 7, the Tecno Phantom X2 series will be made public. We are still determining how many phones will be in the X2 family or other details besides the chipset.
