After battling the Xperia Z5 Compact, it is time for iPhone 6s (Php 38k price) to face the more formidable Sony Xperia Z5 classic (Php 36k price). Design and build
The Sony Xperia Z5 is step up from iPhone 6s because of the rugged features it offers along with the premium, metallic construction. Though the iPhone 6s sports aluminum design, it is still behind the Z5 in terms of robustness as it is not waterproof, dust resistant and neither drop proof.
The Xperia Z5 could survive accidental drops, thanks to the bumper corners and the more rigid built. The downside of the iPhone 6s’ 2.5D glass is that it could easily be cracked if dropped. By no means, the iPhone 6s is still an elegant piece of device. However, it sacrificed a lot of durability for beauty.

Display
Sporting a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS LCD display (428ppi), the Sony Xperia Z5 screen offers accurate and crisp display pictures, thanks to the Bravia Engine technology. Not only that, there are options for the display configuration too: Standard, X-Reality and Super Vivid (close to AMOLED quality).
The iPhone 6s is no slouch in display category either. It has 4.7-inch IPS LCD with 450p resolution (328ppi). Picture looks sharp and natural though the colors are bit warmer compared to the LCD of Xperia Z5. It lacks display configuration too, leaving you to its warmer tone display.

Camera
On our previous comparisons and in our review, Xperia Z5 proved that its camera is indeed one of the best in the market right now. True to this comparison against iPhone 6s. Still images taken from the 23MP sensor of Xperia Z5 offers richer colors, accurate white balance and exposure and sharper detail over the iPhone 6s.
The Selfie shots from both 5MP snappers have good lighting and control to skin tone and smoothening. Xperia Z5 front-facing shot has more preserved details than iPhone 6s.
Even in low light or night shots, Xperia Z5 remain to be better with closer to natural color reproduction and smarter lighting control.
Both phones can record up to 4k UHD video, iPhone 6s managed to capture decent shot and focus speed. But again, video quality on Xperia Z5 is much better by means of sharpness, colors, exposure and focus speed. Checkout the video quality on the video below.

Performance
iPhone 6s easily beats all latest Android smartphones including Sony Xperia Z5 with Snapdragon 810 octacore chip and 3GB of RAM (except on Galaxy Note 5, S6 with Exynos 7420 chip) in benchmark scores and actual speed test.

Battery
The 2900mAh-powered Xperia Z5 lasted up to 11h 45min in our standard battery test (HD movie playback). Meanwhile the iPhone 6s hung in for 10h 30min, which is not bad considering its smaller size.
In charging speed, the Xperia Z5 with its 1.5A standard power charger took 2 hours and 15min to charge from 0% to 100%. In contrast, iPhone 6s consumed 2 hours and 30minutes. It is disappointing for iPhone 6s despite having smaller battery. And worse, it doesn’t support quick or fast charging neither.

Speaker
The iPhone 6s mono speaker produces loud and clear audio output. Both vocals and bass are well-balanced and sound crisp on the bottom-facing single speaker of iPhone 6s.
The front-facing stereo speakers of Sony Xperia Z5 maintains the clear speaker output of its Z5 Compact sibling. Volume is slightly lower compared to iPhone 6s, but the richer stereo experience is just good as to compact standalone stereo speakers.

Price, Verdict
With the iPhone 6s official SRP out in the Philippines, it sits on the high-end market, a little steep, and quite expensive for a 4.7-inch smartphones with just good camera and dated design. However, the iPhone 6s is understandably positioned as a premium smartphone similar to Xperia Z5.
Sony is also known to offer steep pricing to their smartphones and that is true to the Xperia Z5, for P35990 pesos, this is a little high. But what you would get from picking the Z5 is the best camera phone and rugged, premium design right now.
