According to Tutela, a Canada-based research company, has found that SMART mobile network coverage is more consistent in terms of speed and quality than its rival Globe telecom.
The report uses more than 10 billion data connections and covers both basic and excellent standards which translates to basic internet usage to high-speed data transfer like streaming 1080p videos.
Although Smart-PLDT has a marginal advantage in basic and download speed testings (9.5 Mbps vs 7.3 Mbps), it is on the excellent standard that the company was able to pull ahead of Globe. It shows that Smart has a 48.8% excellent rating compared to Globe’s 23.8% while their basic ratings stand at 91% vs 89.3%, respectively.

Open Signal had done similar testing last year and found that Smart was able to beat Globe in mobile and fixed internet speed and latency.
We expect both Smart-PLDT and Globe will be able to continue to improve their mobile networks in 2019 and 2020 given a hotter competition brought by Mislatel Consortium as 3rd major telco player.
