Senate Approves Freedom of Information Bill on Third Reading

The Senate has approved on third reading the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill in the Philippines after multiple legislative proposals.

The proposed measure, Senate Bill No. 1432, allows Filipinos to request and access government information, with some limits for security and legal reasons.

According to Senator Joel Villanueva, the bill’s author and co-sponsor, the Bill No. 1432 aims to make government more open and transparent.

The bill supports the constitutional right of citizens to access information held by the government.

Senator Joel Villanueva also thanked Senator Robinhood Padilla for sponsoring the measure in the Senate.
