SMC, Looking To Go Through Telco Plan With or Without Telstra

Well known food and beverage Philippine company, San Miguel Corporation earlier announced their plans of diving to the Philippine telecom industry and had Telstra, a well-known telco company from Australia on their back pocket, however, it seems that things didn’t go fairly well with Telstra and SMC is looking to go through with the plan, with or without the Australian telco’s support.

In a country that is currently in demand of high-end internet services, with PLDT and Globe leading the rest, SMC is looking to initiate a rather “uncertain” yet determined plan towards the said industry. As of now, there has not yet any news of Telstra and SMC sealing any deal whatsoever. However, SMC claims they only aim to provide additional internet services and fill in the demand of the country and has to qualms with PLDT and Globe whatsoever.

Despite this rather unprecedented approach, Both Globe and PLDT are highly concerned about a new player in the telco game and would take the necessary actions to fill in the lost gaps. With the continuous acknowledgement of smartphones throughout the country, it’s no surprise that the country is in dire need of better internet service from various other companies. Many had high hopes in Telstra coming here in the Philippines, with the hopes of a faster and affordable internet service, though that part of the future looks rather dim from what we’re seeing.
