After reports surfaced that Apple won’t be including 5W and 18W chargers in the box of the next iPhones, Samsung seems to be following suit as well. According to a report by SamMobile, the company may ditch the chargers as early as next year for some smartphones. Unlike Apple, there’s no definite reason as to why the move. However, the industry thinks that this might make the company’s phone cheaper to purchase, but on the flip end, chargers sold as accessories would rise, including the price.
Apple ditching its slow chargers is understandable, given that the company has been stubborn to bundle fast-charging ones. But if Samsung is doing the same thing, even with the fact that they’re shipping fast chargers, then the move might not bode well to its customers. While you can always use your spare charger, you won’t be able to take advantage of the newer phone’s charging speed as it changes every single year.
Regardless, how do you feel about this report? First, the industry gets rid of the headphone jack and bundled earphones. Next, the chargers may go as well.
