Samsung has introduced the ISOCELL HPC, a new 200MP image sensor for mobile.
The sensor uses Samsung’s new DeepPix pixel technology, which increases the full well capacity (FWC) of each pixel by 60% compared with the previous generation.
This allows the sensor to capture more light while reducing noise and preserving details in bright and dark areas.
The ISOCELL HPC supports single-frame 16-bit HDR, which Samsung says can provide up to four times more color information than conventional HDR. It can also maintain HDR across 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x, and 4x in-sensor zoom.
For video, the sensor supports recording at up to 8K at 30fps, 4K at 180fps, and Full HD at 360fps without autofocus.
Samsung also equipped the sensor with its High Precision Microlens and High Transmittance ARL technologies. These are designed to improve light collection and reduce light reflection and scattering before light reaches the photodiode.
The ISOCELL HPC has a 1/1.3-inch optical format, 0.6μm pixel size, and a maximum resolution of 16,384 × 12,288 pixels. It uses a Tetra²pixel RGB Bayer pattern and Super QPD autofocus.
According to Samsung, the ISOCELL HPC is already in mass production and is intended for mobile applications.
