Samsung announced the Smart Monitor M8, its new monitor for home office with intelligent features and embedded virtual assistants that contribute to maximize the fluid and audiovisual experience of its audience.
One of the great novelties brought by the Smart Monitor M8 is its modern look available in four new color options — white, pink, blue or green. All leave the factory with a 32-inch screen with 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The contrast ratio reaches 3,000:1 with peak brightness at 400 nits.
The display covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut, denoting its good tonal fidelity, in addition to supporting HDR10+ content. The monitor is able to adjust brightness and color temperature automatically according to the content displayed to the user, but its GtG response time is 4 milliseconds, so gamers are not included in its target audience.
Another advanced feature is the SlimFit Cam, a Full HD resolution camera that allows video calling with tools like auto zoom and face detection. In addition to these functions, the monitor offers good professional applications by supporting Samsung DeX, Apple AirPlay 2 and Microsoft 365, as well as being able to mirror the screen of a smartphone.
The M8 has two speakers that deliver stereo audio with a power of 5W each. There’s also a microphone that lets you call Bixby and Alexa, virtual assistants that can activate display functions, and the SmartThings Hub to control smart home devices connected to the device.
And speaking of connectivity, the Smart Monitor M8 has Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2. There’s an HDMI port for connecting to PC or Mac and two USB-C ports — one works as a power output for fast charging up to 65W for smartphones, tablets and other devices; the other is dedicated to data entry.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 will be available for pre-sale in the European market from the 4th of April with a suggested price of €799, that is, around ~PHP46,300. Deliveries will begin on April 11th.
