Xiaomi has launched the vanilla Redmi Note 9 that we’ve been waiting for since the launch of the Redmi Note 9 Pro series last month. It comes in Forest Green, Polar White, and Midnight Grey, all in a glossy finish. The price of Redmi Note 9 is $199(~P10,000) for the 3GB/64GB model while the 4GB/128GB costs $249(~P12,500). The availability of the mid-range phone will start mid-May.
Like the Redmi Note 9 Pro, there’s a 48MP quad-camera setup featuring 2MP lenses for macro and depth and 8MP ultrawide lens. The 6.53″ FHD+ IPS LCD can reach 450nits typical brightness and comes with a pinhole-notch on the top-left corner. The 13MP selfie camera is a slight downgrade from the 16MP of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. But for the rest of the specs, the vanilla version looks enticing for a budget mid-range phone.
Among the three devices, only the Redmi Note 9 comes with Helio G85 SoC from MediaTek. While it may seem a downgrade to some, it’s actually faster than the Snapdragon 655 which is popular amongst budget phones.
