The Redmi Note series has established itself as a popular choice in the mid-range smartphone market. This time they launched the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G which they call “the strongest Redmi Note yet” – will this be a worthy upgrade from its predecessor? And why is it tagged as the strongest Redmi Note yet? Let’s find out.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G comes in at 162.33mm in height, 74.42mm in width, a thickness of 8.85mm, and weighs 190g – which is a bit heavy but it’s still easy to grip.
This device features an all-star armor structure – meaning it’s front and back panels are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. Specifically, it’s front is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the back is covered with Gorilla Glass 5. Plus, its IP68 rating enhances its resistance to water and dust which is an improvement from the previous model’s IP54 rating – and that is why they call it “the strongest Redmi Note yet”.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G have 3 different color variants, Midnight Black, Lavender Purple, and the unit that we have right now is the Coral Green.
I personally like the vertically split color design, with one side a lighter shade while the other is darker. It kinda reminds me of bi-eyed animals which is pretty cool.
Exploring its sides, up top you’ll see the microphone and speaker grille. On its right, are the volume rockers and power button, at the bottom, the SIM card tray, USB-C port and another speaker grille can be found, while its left side is left untouched.
Now, let’s talk about its display. The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is equipped with a 6.67-inch curved 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display with a resolution of 2712×1220. This combination provides clear visuals, enhanced by a 120Hz refresh rate. Whether used for video streaming, gaming, or browsing, the display is responsive and clear.
Curved displays might be not appealing for some however, we think that it suits the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G as it gives a slim-looking profile considering its a bit heavy.
Moving on to its cameras, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G comes with 200MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and a 20MP front camera.
The rear cameras excel in capturing intricate details, whether in bright daylight or challenging low-light conditions. The colors are beautifully balanced, resulting in natural-looking photos.
As for its selfie camera, there’s no doubt that it performs notably in well-lit settings but encounters difficulties in low-light situations, producing images that can appear somewhat pale and washed out.
In terms of video recording its rear can shoot up to 4K at 30fps with stabilization while its front camera can shoot up to 1080p at 60fps without stabilization. So, I suggest to go slow and steady if you choose to record using it’s front-facing camera.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra octa-core processor with Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. Paired with 8+4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, it supports multitasking and gaming effectively. Running on Android 14 with HyperOS, it now includes more AI features such as AI Erase Pro, Image Expansion, and Ultra-clear Portrait, alongside productivity tools like Gemini and Circle to Search by Google.
We tried gaming on this device with Mobile Legends with settings set to high – and there are no noticeable drops. Below are its benchmark results:
Up next, we’ll talk about its battery and charging. The device features a 5110mAh battery. We conducted our standard video loop test where the brightness and volume is set to 50% and WiFi on, it lasted for 13 hours and 55 minutes.
As for gaming, we played Mobile Legends with it – brightness and volume at 50%, 60fps, and high frame rate and it lasted for 7 hours and 23 minutes.
This device comes with 45W Turbocharging. Juicing up the device from 0-100% took as about 50 minutes.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is available in two variants:
Overall, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is a practical upgrade with notable improvements. While the reduced charging speed may be a minor drawback, the enhanced IP68 rating, solid design, and balanced performance make it a worthwhile consideration. With its upgraded display, versatile camera system, and additional AI features, it caters to users seeking a reliable and modern smartphone experience.
