Xiaomi’s general manager Lu Weibing, went public this weekend to tease fans of the brand when it comes to the launch of the Redmi K50 family. They are expected to announce before the month ends.
Meanwhile, another leak was published in China, showing the possible official smartphone prices in the country.
• Redmi K50 with Snapdragon 870 – CNY 1,999 (~P16,190)
• Redmi K50 Pro with Dimensity 8000 – CNY 2,699 (~P21,860)
• Redmi K50 Pro Plus with Dimensity 9000 – CNY 3,299 (~P26,720)
• Redmi K50 Gaming Edition with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 – CNY 3499 (~P28,340)
According to the leak source, the four smartphones should share the AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, the set with three rear cameras, and also Android 12 running under MIUI 13. Both the Redmi K50 Pro Plus and the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition could use 120W fast charging, while the Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro will use 67W and 66W, respectively.
Additionally, the Redmi K50 may be rebranded as the Xiaomi 12X for the Indian market, and Poco F4 for the international market.
The choice of the processor in the Redmi K50 may disappoint some users, as it is the same chipset used by the Redmi K40 in 2021. The Redmi K40 has reached the Indian market as Xiaomi Mi 11X and in global markets as the Poco F3. So, to make the phone more attractive, Xiaomi might offer more than this processor. Perhaps, there are improvements to the cameras or charging technology, otherwise, it should cost less than its predecessor.
