
Xiaomi has officially introduced a budget smartphone in the Philippines, the Redmi A5.
The A5 has a flat 6.88-inch display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate with 720 × 1640 resolution.
The screen also supports wet touch technology and includes TÜV Rheinland-certified eye protection and DC dimming for reduced eye strain.
For cameras, the device is equipped with a 32MP AI rear camera. It also includes an upgraded 8MP waterdrop front camera.
Powering the device is a UNISOC T7250 processor with up to 8GB of RAM (through memory extension) and a 5200mAh battery. Xiaomi claims the phone can last over 20 hours of video playback or 9 hours of gaming.
Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Redmi A5 is priced at PHP3,599 for the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage model and PHP4,099 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.
It will be available online starting May 20 via Shopee and Lazada, and in physical Mi Stores nationwide from May 23.
