The subsidiary of Meralco, Radius Telecom, and Cignal TV has formed a new fiber broadband provider called the RED Broadband. It also offers Pay TV via Cignal channels while the internet offering will be provided through combined infrastructures of Meralco and Cignal.
The RED Broadband will be launching this year for select areas with a focus on Metro Manila and will expand to other regions and cities including Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo next year.
Its fiber plans start at P1299 pesos and they should match the speed of PLDT fiber with up to 10Mbps and free SD channels while HD channels are for upgrades.
RED Broadband will compete with Converge ICT as the latter company expands its fiber offering nationwide.
Just yesterday, Converge ICT’s service was interrupted for several areas because of a power outage to its networks.
