Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, the latest addition to its premium 8-series lineup.
One of the biggest upgrades in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is its smarter on-device AI. Thanks to the Qualcomm Sensing Hub, phones can now detect when you pick them up and instantly activate AI assistants.
The improved Hexagon NPU delivers up to 46% faster AI performance, making interactions feel more natural and more aware of your needs.
For performance, the chip uses Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU, reaching speeds up to 3.8GHz. This results in a 36% boost in processing power and 76% faster web browsing. The new Adreno GPU, built with a sliced architecture, also improves gaming and graphics by 11%.
For its rollout, Qualcomm announced that the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 smartphones may soon come from brands like iQOO, HONOR, Meizu, Motorola, OnePlus, and vivo.
