POCO M8 Pro 5G Gaming Review

POCO M8 Pro 5G

We have another gaming review on our hands, and this time, we are testing the gaming performance of the POCO M8 Pro.

We also have two new games in this video alongside our usual test games.

With that being said, here’s how the device performed across different genres.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

As usual, let us start with Mobile Legends, where most settings are set to high by default.

We pushed all options to the maximum available settings to test their limits. As expected, the game ran smoothly on the POCO M8 Pro.

There were no stutters, frame drops, or noticeable heating issues, even during team clashes. Frame rates remained consistent throughout gameplay.

FPS result: 118–121 FPS (max settings)

League of Legends: Wild Rift

Next is League of Legends: Wild Rift. By default, the game is set to Performance mode at 60 FPS.

We switched to custom settings and maxed everything out. On the home screen, frame drops were noticeable due to visual clutter.

However, once inside the Rift, performance stabilized. Gameplay was smooth with no major stutters or frame drops, though FPS consistency was not as solid as in Mobile Legends.

FPS result: 89–110 FPS (max settings)

Call of Duty: Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile defaults to Very High graphics paired with the Max frame rate option.

Despite not maintaining a constant 60 FPS, gameplay remained smooth. There were no stutters or frame drops during gunfights, and the device barely heated up. Fast movements and flick shots were easy to execute.

FPS result: 56–60 FPS (Very High graphics, Max frame rate)

Asphalt Legends

Asphalt Legends runs at Low settings with 30 FPS by default.

We switched to the High graphics profile and enabled 60 FPS. Performance during races was smooth, with no stutters or frame drops. FPS remained consistent, though the device did feel slightly warm after several minutes of gameplay.

FPS result: 58–60 FPS (High settings)

Genshin Impact

Moving on to more graphically demanding titles, we tested Genshin Impact using Low settings with the 60 FPS option enabled.

During our Spiral Abyss run, performance was mostly smooth with occasional minor frame drops. Character switching and ultimate skill activations were responsive, making endgame content playable on this device.

FPS result: 35–49 FPS (Low settings, 60 FPS)

Arknights: Endfield

Using the same Low plus 60 FPS settings, Arknights: Endfield performed slightly worse than Genshin Impact.

Frame drops were more noticeable during combat, though still mostly tolerable. Factory management sections were more demanding and caused more frequent dips in frame rate.

FPS result: 24–35 FPS (Low settings, 60 FPS)

Zenless Zone Zero

In Zenless Zone Zero, performance during Shiyu Defense was generally smooth, with some frame drops when activating ultimate skills.

There were no freeze frames, which are common in this title. However, players attempting endgame content may find it challenging to consistently time dodges and parries.

FPS result: 26–38 FPS (Low settings, 60 FPS)

Wuthering Waves

Despite using the lowest available settings, Wuthering Waves was largely unplayable on the POCO M8 Pro.

The game suffered from frequent stutters and heavy frame drops, rarely reaching 20 FPS. The device also heated up much faster compared to previous titles.

FPS result: 10–14 FPS (Low settings, 60 FPS)

Price

  • 8GB RAM + 256GB: PHP16,999
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB: PHP19,999

Overall Verdict

Like many midrange smartphones, the POCO M8 Pro handles lighter esports titles such as Mobile Legends and Wild Rift with ease.

However, performance drops significantly when running more graphically demanding games.

If your primary focus is competitive or casual MOBA gaming, the device will serve you well. That said, there are other options at the same price point that offer better overall gaming performance, especially for heavier titles.
