The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) took swift action by temporarily shutting down its official Facebook page after explicit photos surfaced on the platform.
The PCSO stated that it stumbled upon inappropriate activities, prompting a thorough investigation.
In response to the incident, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center (CICC) has launched a probe.
Usec. Alexander Ramos, the Executive Director of CICC, mentioned receiving reports of explicit images on the PCSO Facebook account and immediately dispatched a team to assess the situation.
Some netizens also commented on PCSO’s latest post on their Facebook page.
Ramos emphasized the possibility of this being a deliberate attack, stating, “It’s probably a form of attack.” Despite no existing agreement between PCSO and CICC on cybersecurity measures, CICC is extending its assistance to ensure a proper investigation and recovery process.
Now the PCSO Facebook page is back and online and the public can access information on games and activities through the PCSO Games Online Hub Facebook page.
The incident highlights the increasing importance of robust cybersecurity measures, with CICC recently signing agreements with various government agencies to bolster online security.
