This latest OPPO foldable phone, the Find N2, was introduced at the end of 2022, exactly one year after the previous model. This is the company’s second horizontally-foldable smartphone, with several upgrades over its predecessor. However, despite being a year old, the OPPO Find N can still be purchased at attractive street pricing. Given this assumption, it’s only logical to wonder if the new model is worth the additional cost or whether you’d be better off saving money by sticking with the previous generation. Design & Display
As predicted, the OPPO Find N2 and Find N have the same horizontal design factor: a folding internal display turns the phone into a tablet, while an external display lets you use it like a phone. However, the new Find N2 is more elegant and durable due to design changes. The new phone includes a sleeker camera module and a better hinge. Despite the same battery capacity and display sizes, the Find N2 is slimmer. The latest model supports styluses.
As for their displays, the internal screens of these phones are precisely the same, and nothing changed. Both devices sport 7.1-inch Foldable AMOLED 2K Plus display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Instead, the exterior display changes somewhat. Instead of an AMOLED display with a 5.49-inch and 988p x 1972p resolution, the OPPO Find N2 has a slightly bigger screen with FHD+ (1080p x 2120p). Camera & Speaker
The OPPO Find N2’s camera is another major upgrade. The Sony IMX890 primary camera with OIS and Hasselblad improvements is superior. The 32 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and 48 MP ultrawide camera are excellent secondary sensors. The Find N sports a 50 MP Sony MX766 primary camera with OIS, a 13 MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, and a 16 MP ultrawide lens. Two 32MP selfie cameras remain.
Both feature dual loudspeakers but no 3.5mm audio jack. OPPO Find N2 speakers support Dolby.
OS & Hardwares
Getting into the specifics of their respective software and hardware, the newer model comes preinstalled with Android 13, and it will receive more updates and bug fixes over time than the outgoing model, which runs Android 12. The OPPO Find N2’s hardware has upgraded, notably with the inclusion of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform. With a 4 nm fabrication process and Adreno 730, it is Qualcomm’s top chipset for 2022. As opposed to the Snapdragon 888’s 5nm technology and Adreno 660 found in its predecessor. The Find N2 has up to 16 GB of RAM, while the Find N maxes out at 12 GB. The Find N2 and the Find N have the same storage choices of 256 GB and 512 GB.
Battery & Charging
The OPPO Find N2 has a larger battery at 4520 mAh, although both phones max out at 4500 mAh. Therefore, battery life should remain the same. However, the new model has faster charging at 67W. (instead of just 33W).
Price & Availability
