OpenAI has launched its new GPT-5.6 family of AI models for general availability. The lineup includes GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Terra, and GPT-5.6 Luna.
GPT-5.6 Sol is the company’s flagship model. OpenAI says it offers better performance in coding, research, cybersecurity, science, and other tasks while using fewer tokens, which can help lower costs.
The company also introduced Ultra, a new mode that uses multiple AI agents working together to complete complex tasks faster.
Meanwhile, GPT-5.6 Terra is designed for everyday use, while GPT-5.6 Luna is the most affordable model in the lineup.
OpenAI also added new features that let GPT-5.6 better use tools and complete tasks with fewer steps, making it more efficient for developers.
According to OpenAI, the GPT-5.6 models were tested before launch and include improved safety measures to help reduce misuse.
