There has been talking for a while about OnePlus’ foray into the tablet segment and now, new information shows that the company’s first device aimed at this sector may arrive with the new version of Google’s operating system.
According to the website 91Mobiles, the OnePlus Pad, as it has been called (it is not yet the official name), will hit the market running Android 12L, the version aimed at devices with larger screens, such as tablets and foldable smartphones.
Android 12L has not been officially released yet. Announced in October 2021, the version gained beta builds from December 2021 for some supported devices and should be made available in final mode soon.
Version 12L includes a small number of new APIs for developers. While the APIs are still under development, the 12L platform uses the “Sv2” interim API level. When the APIs are finalized, the 12L platform will use API level “32”.
Unfortunately, the source heard by the site did not report a release forecast for the OnePlus tablet, but previous information shows that it should be officially unveiled during the first half of 2022.
The company registered the OnePlus Pad brand in July 2021 and this indicates that its moves to enter the tablet market began before that, which also reinforces a possible official announcement in the coming weeks.
