OnePlus Open Foldable Rumors, Release Date, Specs, and More!

OnePlus Open Foldable

OnePlus is one of the few big-name smartphone brands that doesn’t have a foldable device yet, but that’s about to change when the OnePlus Fold or OnePlus Open, as has been rumored lately, is announced. The exact name of the device is still a secret, but it is expected to be shown off for the first time at a special event in New York in August.

Like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and vivo X Fold2, the OnePlus Fold is likely to have a folding design that faces outward.

The images of the OnePlus Fold look exactly like a leaked diagram of the yet-to-be-announced Oppo Find N3, which is expected to be sold only in China while the OnePlus foldable will be sold around the world.

The images also show a camera cutout on the back that looks like the one on the OnePlus 11, along with the Hasselblad logo and three sensors. The OnePlus Fold has smooth metal sides and a back that looks like leather. The power button also has a fingerprint reader built in, and the left side has the popular alert slider.

Specifications

The top screen of the OnePlus Fold will be an AMOLED screen with a size of 6.3 inches and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The outside panel is also believed to have a 20MP selfie camera in the middle of a punch hole.

The main 7.8″ LTPO AMOLED screen will likely have a resolution of 1,900 x 2,100px and a frame rate of 120Hz. Based on the images, it will have a cutout for its 32MP selfie camera in the top left corner.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm is believed to be the chipset, and it will come with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The OnePlus Fold is likely to have the same 50MP main sensor (IMX890) and 48MP ultrawide sensor (IMX581) as the OnePlus 11.

On the back of the OnePlus Fold, the third element is likely to be a 64MP telephoto camera.

There are rumors that the OnePlus Fold will come with a 4,800 mAh battery and 67W charging, which is a little less power than the OnePlus 11’s 5,000 mAh battery. OxygenOS 13.1, which is built on Android 13, should take care of the software, but it’s still unclear how OnePlus plans to add more features for the bigger screen.

Pricing and Availability

Since there have been no real leaks so far, the biggest questions about the OnePlus Fold are how much it will cost and when it will be on the market. Since it folds in half horizontally and has top-of-the-line specs, we should expect it to cost between $1,500 (around PHP 83,000) and $1,800 (around PHP 100,000), just like the Galaxy Z Fold and Pixel Fold.

Most likely, the US and Europe will be the first places to get the OnePlus Fold. Other places should follow. Keep an eye on our news section, because we’ll let you know as soon as we learn more about the OnePlus Fold.
