OnePlus recently launched their new smartphone flagship in the form of OnePlus 2 (priced at P20,990 for 64GB version).

The OnePlus 2 is the successor to OnePlus’s cream of the crop smartphone OnePlus One. It made its way to our market earlier this August and in honor of its arrival, we gave a shot at pointing out a few things about OnePlus’s new seed. Read further to check out what we had to say.

First Impressions and Hands-on

The thing that stood out to us the most was the OnePlus 2’s Sandstone black themed handset, which helped stabilize its 9.9mm thickness and initiate an overall weight measurement of 175g. The theme helped emphasize the elegance of OnePlus 2’s design with its black bezel and dark grey cover.

It’s built-in fingerprint sensor and notification switch are also key components of the OnePlus 2 that everyone should take note off.

OnePlus 2 is now powered by Snapdragon 810 octacore, which should help solidify the phone’s strong capability and performance.

For display, we noticed that the 5.5-inch 1080p LTPS LCD display is surprisingly in par with apple’s iPhone 6. OnePlus 2 has some minor step backs though, namely its 1080p FHD display. Since the OnePlus 2 is using 1080 x 1920 pixels, screen resolution might be a little lesser compared to other high-end smartphones.

OnePlus 2 however, was able to compensate with its bright backlight, which considerably makes it easier to read the phone’s display.

The highlight for the OnePlus 2’s camera capability is its added feature of laser autofocus, which is said to be the fastest autofocus mechanism for smartphones.

Quick Comparison VS OnePlus One

While checking the OnePlus 2’s specs, we decided to highlight some interesting components that the OnePlus 2 has, in comparison with its predecessor.

One in which is the exterior design of both OnePlus siblings, namely the Sandstone black handset theme.

Another difference is that of the camera’s position, which heavily differs from the one of the OnePlus One.

In regards to display, The 5.5-inch 1080p LTPS LCD is easily distinguished as similar to its big brother. However, in terms of weight, the OnePlus 2 is surprisingly heavier than its big brother counterpart, measuring up to 175g, in comparison with the OnePlus one’s 162g measurement.

System wise, the OnePlus 2 has its fair share of advantages in par with its big brother, thanks to its built-in OS of Android 5.1 Lollipop, combined with an Oxygen OS UI and gesture recognition feature. The OnePlus 2 is also protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 while its counterpart is protected by Corning’s earlier version, Gorilla Glass 3.

In regards to phone performance, OnePlus 2’s Snapdragon 810 is already a beast itself, a major upgrade from its counterpart’s Snapdragon 801.

Camera wise, they are similar in many ways, one major difference that differentiates the two is OnePlus 2’s laser autofocus feature, which is a feature not available to its brother.
