As scheduled, Nova 6 series has launched in China. The affordable mid-range/flagship lineup from Huawei offers three models — the Nova 6 SE, Nova 6, and Nova 6 5G. The SE model is the cheapest of the bunch, priced at CNY 2199 or ~P15,800 (8GB/128GB). The standard model has a price of CNY 3199 or ~P23,000 (8GB/128GB) while the 5G variant comes in two configurations — 8GB/128GB (CNY 3799 or ~P27,300) and 8GB/256GB (CNY 4199 or ~P30,000).

Starting with the most affordable phone, Nova 6 SE is a mid-range phone with a 6.4″ FHD+ LCD couple with a pinhole camera situated on the top-left corner of the display. Within the notch is a 16MP selfie lens. On the side is the capacitive fingerprint scanner. The main cameras are housed in a rectangular square that reminds us of the iPhone 11 series. However, the phone is using 48MP, 8MP ultrawide, and two 2MP sensors for depth and macro purposes. For all the processing power you need, there’s the Kirin 810 chipset made for mid-range gaming. The battery clocks in at 4200mAh with support for 40W Huawei SuperCharge. Nova 6 SE is available in three colors — black, green, and sky blue-to-pinkish gradient.

For the standard Nova 6, it shares the same size as the Nova 6 5G model. This means it packs a 6.57″ FHD+ AMOLED with a dual-pinhole setup (also located on the top-left corner). The main selfie camera uses a 32MP sensor that outputs 8MP equivalent photos while the secondary camera uses an 8MP as an ultrawide option. As for the rear cameras, you’ll be mostly shooting with the 40MP main sensor. Additionally, you can use the two 8MP sensors for telephoto and ultrawide (with the former supporting optical image stabilization). The standard model has flagship-grade processing performance, thanks to the Kirin 990 chipset. It also runs on the latest Android 10 version with EMUI 10 on top. The battery, however, is slightly smaller at 4100mAh. But you still get the benefit of SuperCharge.

Last but not least is the Nova 6 5G. It’s basically a Nova 6 but with a dedicated Balong 5000 modem to enable 5G connectivity and 4200mAh battery.

Pre-orders have already started in China with a December 12 launching date (while the NOva 6 SE will launch on December 25th with Dec 18th pre-order date). Given that Nova 5T launched in the Philippines this year, we don’t see a reason why Huawei won’t announce the Nova 6 series for us. If it will ever arrive, expect the devices to arrive as early as next year.
