
The Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition is officially set to launch this month. But what is the Community Edition, exactly?
The Community Edition Project by Nothing is a collaborative initiative designed to involve the community in creating a unique version of the Phone (2a).
This project allows fans and followers of Nothing to contribute their ideas in various stages, focusing on hardware design, wallpaper design, packaging design, and marketing campaigns.
Community members to submit their creative designs, which will then be evaluated and voted on. Four winners are selected at different stages to contribute to the creation of the Phone (2a) Community Edition.
The project unfolded over six months, with each stage highlighting a different aspect of the phone’s design and marketing.
Winners from each stage will be invited to London for the official launch event, showcasing their work and celebrating the collaborative effort behind the product.
Hardware Design: Participants were invited to reimagine the Phone (2a)’s hardware. The winning design, “Phosphorescence” by Kenta Akasaki and Astrid Vanhuyse.
Wallpaper Design: The second stage focused on creating wallpapers that complement the hardware. Andrés Mateos won this stage with his “Connected Collection.”
Packaging Design: Participants proposed innovative packaging concepts. Ian Henry Simmonds won with “Less is More.
Marketing Campaign: The final stage was about ideating a marketing strategy for the Community Edition. Sonya Palma’s concept, “Find your light. Capture your light.”
