During Q4 of 2020, Nokia Mobile managed to increase its shipments by 26%. This is quite an increase compared to what the company had in the previous quarter. This is a total of 12.7 million feature phones that were shipped during Q4 of last year. It then made Nokia a market share of 16%, following iTel with a 22% market share.

When it comes to smartphone shipments, Nokia Mobile had a 35% increase in their shipments compared to Q3 of 2020. With over 2.8 million shipped smartphones in Q4, this increased Nokia Mobile’s global market share by 0.7%, making it the 15th biggest smartphone brand.

“Nokia HMD’s shipments grew by close to 30% QoQ with feature phone shipments increasing by over 26%, helping it capture around 16% of the feature phone market and ranking at no. 2 in Q4 2020 after iTel (which enjoys a market share of over 22%). This growth was fuelled by its strong performance in Europe,” according to Counterpoint.

They then continued, “Smartphone shipments also increased by around 35% QoQ, making it the 15th biggest smartphone brand globally. HMD holds a share of close to 0.7% of the smartphone market. Its relatively low market share in the smartphone segment may be attributed to its dated design.”

Counterpoint Research also provided the numbers comparing Nokia’s yearly performance from 2018. 2019, and 2020. With the numbers showing that from 2018, the shipment of smartphones and feature phones had dwindled to half. This is alarming but hopefully, this year would be favorable to the company.
