HMD Global is announcing two new budget phones in the Philippines, namely the Nokia 5.4 and Nokia 1.4 devices. The former device comes with a price of Php9,990, but the exclusive pre-order deal on Shopee lets you get it for only Php7,890. Pre-order starts March 8th until March 21st only. On the other end, the Nokia 1.4 will become available for purchase starting March 15th nationwide, including Nokia’s official online store, for Php4,990.

Spec-wise, Nokia 5.4 brings 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage to the masses, alongside a power-efficient Snapdragon 662 SoC. A 48MP main sensor commands the back, together with a 5MP ultrawide and a pair of 2MP lenses for macro and depth, while the front makes do with a 16MP selfie camera housed inside a pinhole cutout.

Nokia 5.4 isn’t a gigantic phone, thanks to the measured 6.39″ FHD+ display capable of churning out 400 nits of typical brightness. Battery-wise, the 4000mAh capacity should be enough to last you an entire day before charging through the USB-C 10W charger. 

The cheap phone Nokia 1.4 has the larger screen between the two, featuring a 6.52″ HD+ IPS LCD, albeit with a teardrop notch for the 5MP selfie camera. Though there are only 8MP main and 2MP macro cameras on the back, HMD shared that the main sensor supports Night Mode and Portrait Mode. Although the battery is fairly large at 4000mAh, you do have to charge via a micro-USB port. Nokia 1.4’s Snapdragon 215 is running Android 10 Go edition but uses the Google Camera app to deliver improved photo quality. 

Nokia 5.4 comes in Polar Night and Dusk colors while Nokia 1.4 in Fjord and Charcoal. Both are Android 11-ready with guaranteed 3-year security patches and two major Android upgrades.
