On Friday, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) introduced an online portal to help Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) members determine if their records were compromised in a recent data breach.
The portal, philhealthleak.privacy.gov.ph, specifically covers a segment of PhilHealth members aged 60 and above, encompassing records of 1 million senior citizens for verification.
The primary objective of this tool is to empower Filipinos, especially vulnerable senior citizens, to proactively safeguard their data against potential risks such as identity theft, financial fraud, phishing attacks, and more.
Members can input their PhilHealth identification number (PIN) into the portal to verify if their records were exposed. This initiative is part of the NPC’s effort called “Na-leak ba ang PhilHealth data ko?” (Was my PhilHealth data leaked?) based on the data set reportedly leaked by the Medusa ransomware group.
Medusa had claimed responsibility for the cyberattack and demanded a $300,000 ransom for the stolen information.

The NPC disclosed initial findings of the cyberattack, revealing that an extensive amount of data, exceeding 730 gigabytes, had been stolen from PhilHealth.
