Nearly PHP7M, 24,000 SIMs Confiscated in POGO Hub

Authorities raided a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Pasay City discovering almost 7 million in cash, which they found on Thursday.

Also taken were 24,000 pre-registered SIM cards, over 9,000 cellphones, IDs, credit cards, and contracts from 32 vaults in SA Rivendell Gaming Corporation, which is thought to be a hub for scams that looks like a POGO.

Winston John Romero Casio, who works for the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) as a senior technical assistant and liaison officer, said that most of the SIM had not been opened yet. He also said that they had talked to the phone company responsible, which didn’t know how the SIM cards were pre-registered.

This month, hundreds of people who worked in the POGO hub were found doing illegal things like love scams, illegal gambling, and bitcoin scams.

Their business is so separate and hidden that some of the people who work here don’t even realize it’s a scam.

Twenty-eight foreigners were arrested for breaking the Securities Regulation Code and Cybercrime Prevention Act. They will be charged with crimes if they are found guilty.

PAOCC said that they will face more charges because they broke the SIM Registration Act.

The scam hub is the smallest of those tied to the POGO, according to the authorities.

Casio told Filipinos to be careful about jobs they see so they don’t get caught up in illegal activities.
