Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, is gearing up to release its inaugural AI model to a limited audience this Saturday, as announced by the Tesla CEO.
This development comes nearly a year after OpenAI’s ChatGPT captured the attention of businesses and users worldwide, leading to a surge in the adoption of generative AI technology.
It’s worth noting that Musk was a co-founder of OpenAI, the entity behind ChatGPT, back in 2015, but he stepped down from the company’s board in 2018.
He announced that once xAI’s Grok system transitions out of its initial beta phase, it will become accessible to all subscribers of X Premium+.

“Grok has real-time access to info via the š platform, which is a massive advantage over other models. Itās also based & loves sarcasm. I have no idea who could have guided it this way” Elon Musk shared on X
Elon Musk, who has been vocal about his concerns regarding Big Tech’s AI efforts and issues related to censorship, had previously expressed his intention to launch an AI system focused on seeking maximum truth and understanding the nature of the universe, effectively competing with Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing AI.
The team behind xAI, which made its debut in July, boasts experts from Google’s DeepMind, Microsoft’s parent company, and other prominent AI research firms.
