New Clark City has introduced the Philippines’ first self-driving bus service, a significant leap towards advanced transportation in the country.
The self-driving bus is developed by Japanese tech firm Zenmov, Inc. in collaboration with local partner MC Metro Transport Operation, these autonomous buses are now operating key routes around New Clark City, the Clark Freeport Zone, and Clark International Airport as reported by PNA.
The fleet starts with 17 buses, and for now, rides are free until July 2025! The project is fully financed by Zenmov and MC Metro, with no cost to the Philippine government.
These buses use Smart Mobility Operation Cloud (SMOC) technology to adapt to traffic conditions and support low-carbon transport.
The project is backed by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and is set to run until June 2025, with the goal of showcasing New Clark City as a leading example of smart and eco-friendly urban development.
Zenmov and MC Metro will also introduce low-carbon electric vehicles, electric-assisted bicycles, smart poles, drones, and charging stations.
