Reddit will begin testing a login requirement for users browsing the platform, according to CEO Steve Huffman.
Huffman said the change aims to improve the user experience, support Reddit’s advertising business, and protect its data from unauthorized access and scraping.
Reddit will also relaunch its app’s incognito mode as part of the changes.
However, the company has not yet detailed how the new login requirement will affect users who access Reddit through links without an account.
The test will start in select markets outside the US in the coming months.
Reddit has not announced a timeline for a wider rollout or explained what logged-out users will be able to access.
