Qualcomm has introduced Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2, a new audio platform.
The platform features up to 128 GOPS of AI acceleration, offering up to 2x greater on-device AI capability than the previous generation.
It also integrates micro-power Wi-Fi 6E, supporting 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands for AI services and higher-bandwidth audio connections.
Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2 supports features such as AI assistants, translation, transcription, contextual awareness, wellness functions, and AI-enhanced voice processing. Qualcomm says the platform can handle AI, audio, sensing, communication, and other workloads at the same time.
For audio, it supports 24-bit audio, up to 384kHz sample rates, Qualcomm aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, and Qualcomm XPAN for Wi-Fi-based audio. It also includes fifth-generation Adaptive ANC and AI-enhanced microphone processing.
Qualcomm says the new platform can reduce power consumption by up to 40% and platform footprint by up to 30% compared with previous-generation designs.
Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2 is designed for products including AI earbuds, audio glasses, camera buds, hearing devices, open-ear products, and other Personal AI wearables.
