Google has announced several new Android features as part of its June Android Drop.
One of the new additions is fake call detection in the Phone by Google app. The feature can warn users if someone may be impersonating a saved contact during a phone call. It is available on Android 12 and newer devices that use Phone by Google.
Google has also expanded Circle to Search. Users can now search for an entire outfit from an image, including clothing and footwear, without leaving the app they are using. The feature is available on Android 14 devices that support Circle to Search.
On the other hand, the Personal Safety app is also receiving updates for younger users. Children under 13 will be able to display medical information and emergency contacts on the lock screen, while teens will gain access to features such as Safety Check and location sharing with emergency contacts.
In Google Play Books, a new AI-powered reading companion will offer chapter recaps and allow users to ask questions about highlighted passages. The feature is rolling out for select English-language titles.
Google is also improving cross-platform file sharing. Quick Share can now work with AirDrop on supported Android devices, allowing users to transfer photos, videos, and documents between Android phones and iPhones.
Finally, Gboard’s Emoji Kitchen has received new emoji combinations, giving users more ways to create and share custom emoji stickers.
The June Android Drop is rolling out gradually to supported Android devices.
