HUAWEI Watch GT Runner 2 Expands to More Markets, PH Launch Set for April

HUAWEI has started rolling out the Watch GT Runner 2 in more markets.

From its name, the Watch GT Runner 2 is built mainly for runners rather than as a general-purpose smartwatch.

The device features a 1.32-inch AMOLED display with a 466 × 466 resolution and peak brightness of up to 3000 nits. It is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass.

It comes with a new AirDry woven strap, along with a second fluoroelastomer strap for workouts involving sweat or water.

HUAWEI highlights running-specific features on the device. These include an Intelligent Marathon Mode developed with the DSM-Firmenich Running Team, offering structured training plans, race preparation tools, and support for marathon events or custom runs.

The watch can track metrics such as lactate threshold, running power, training intensity, and a Running Ability Index.

It can also estimate finishing times based on past performance. During runs, it provides real-time pace data, projected finish times, and pacing comparisons against targets, along with digital pacing and fueling reminders.

For positioning, the Watch GT Runner 2 uses a 3D floating antenna system. It also supports over 100 sports modes. The watch is rated at 5 ATM and IP69 and supports freediving up to 40 meters.

Health-related features include ECG, heart rate variability tracking, blood oxygen monitoring, sleep tracking, stress tracking, and pulse wave arrhythmia analysis. These are intended for general wellness tracking.

Battery life is rated at up to 14 days under light use, around 7 days with typical use, and up to 32 hours in outdoor workout mode.

The watch supports wireless charging, NFC, Bluetooth calling, standalone music playback, and QR code scanning. It is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, with some features limited to iPhones.
