Meta has introduced Muse, a personal AI agent designed to help users complete tasks, manage projects, and work toward long-term goals.
Unlike standard AI chatbots, Muse can take actions on a user’s behalf. It can open a browser, fill out forms, send emails, book travel, and perform other tasks using connected apps and services.
Muse is powered by Muse Spark, which Meta describes as its most capable AI model for agentic tasks. It can also remember information shared by users and use it for future tasks and suggestions.
Muse can continue working on longer tasks even after the user closes the app. It will return when something changes or when it needs approval for actions such as sending an email or making a purchase.
For online purchases, Muse supports Link by Stripe, which uses a one-time-use card to keep a user’s actual card details hidden. Meta also plans to add support for Shop Pay and 1Password.
To handle user data and connected services, Meta built Muse Secure VM, a dedicated virtual machine where the agent and user data are stored. A separate Sentinel system controls Muse’s access to the internet and can require user approval.
Users can choose which apps Muse can access and what actions it can perform. Meta also says users can disconnect services, opt out of AI training, and ask Muse to forget specific information.
Meta plans to introduce Muse Confidential VM later this year, which will encrypt the virtual machine and its data using a key controlled by the user.
Muse is currently rolling out in the US on iOS, Android, and muse.ai. It is also planned for AI glasses. Meta says the service will be free for most basic use, with subscription plans available for additional capabilities.
Muse has not yet been confirmed for availability in the Philippines.
