The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has lifted its ban order against Discord, the agency confirmed during a livestream on its official Facebook page on Thursday.
The CICC said the decision came after a meeting with Discord representatives, where both sides discussed the platform’s online child safety measures and its commitment to work with Philippine authorities.
According to the CICC, Discord agreed to strengthen its child safety measures and improve coordination with the Philippine government.
The agency said the agreement includes closer monitoring and reporting of potential violations on the platform. However, the CICC stressed that it will continue to monitor Discord’s implementation of its commitments.
The CICC also apologized to users affected by the temporary ban and said the lifting process was already being coordinated with Discord.
CICC officials said the ban was lifted after Discord agreed to work with the agency on online child safety. The agency said the decision was not intended to collect fees or pressure platforms, but to ensure stronger child safety measures.
Meanwhile, Discord has also started rolling out a new age verification system that estimates a user’s age group using account information, including account age, activity levels, and the servers and games they use.
Users identified as adults aged 18 and above can continue using Discord normally, while users identified as teens aged 13 to 17 will receive additional safety protections.
