Gemini App Rolls Out New AI Magic Photo Editing Tool

Google has rolled out a new image editing model from DeepMind in the Gemini app. The model, called Gemini 2.5 Flash Image and nicknamed “Nano Banana”, gives users more control when editing photos while making sure people and pets keep a consistent look across images.

The feature allows costume and location changes, photo blending, and multi-turn editing where users can make step-by-step adjustments, such as changing wall colors or adding furniture. It also supports style transfer, letting patterns or textures from one image be applied to another. Edited photos can be turned into short videos within the app.

Google says the model is designed to avoid common flaws in AI photo editing, such as subtle changes that make people look slightly different from themselves. This aims to keep photos of friends, family, and pets looking realistic even when placed in new scenarios.

All AI-generated images include a visible watermark and Google’s SynthID digital watermark.

Gemini App Availability and Rollout

As for its availability, the Google Nano Banana update is now available in the Gemini app.
