OpenAI has announced GPT-Live, a new generation of voice models.
Unlike previous voice systems that wait for users to finish speaking, GPT-Live uses a full-duplex architecture that allows it to listen and speak at the same time.
This enables better back-and-forth conversations, lets users interrupt naturally, and reduces unnecessary interruptions during pauses.
The updated ChatGPT Voice experience includes improved listening, smarter responses, and support for visual cards that can display information such as weather, stocks, sports, and maps during voice conversations.
Users can also choose between Instant, Medium, and High reasoning modes depending on how much processing they want ChatGPT to use.
The company is rolling out two versions: GPT-Live-1 for Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers, and GPT-Live-1 mini for Free users.
GPT-Live is now rolling out globally on iOS, Android, and ChatGPT.com.
