More Than Just a Tablet: Exploring the TECNO MEGAPAD 2

It’s been a while since we last reviewed a tablet, and today we’re checking out another one. It’s none other than TECNO‘s newest tablet, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2.

Is it just another tablet in the market? Read more to find out.

First, let’s see if it’s going to be a good productivity companion for work.

6.6 Ultra-thin Full Metal Body

When I first saw it, I thought, “it’s quite thin,” and I wasn’t wrong. The TECNO MEGAPAD 2 is just 6.6mm thin and weighs 547 grams.

Its slim design also makes it easy to carry around. If you already bring a laptop, charger, notebooks, or other work essentials, they won’t take up much space in your bag.

It also feels and looks premium because of its full metal body. Using it in a professional setting won’t be an issue, as it has a clean, polished design.

Since it has a metal body, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2 is generally more durable than plastic tablets. It’s more resistant to bending, flexing, and minor bumps.

Another advantage is that the metal body holds up better against everyday scratches, so it should still look good even after long-term use.

The tablet is available in three colors: Space Gray, Cosmic Orange, and Light Green. Our review unit is the Light Green variant. Check out the photos below for a closer look.

One Leap Ecosystem Connectivity

One feature that I found quite useful is OneLeap. If paired with a TECNO phone or a compatible PC, it makes moving between devices much easier.

For example, I was able to quickly drag and drop files between my tablet and computer. I found this more convenient since I usually transfer files through messaging apps, which can sometimes compress images and videos, reducing their quality.

While working on my computer, I could even use the MEGAPAD 2 as a second display. I found this helpful when I needed extra screen space for documents, reference materials, or creating articles and scripts.

Another thing I liked was being able to control the tablet using my PC’s keyboard and mouse, making it feel more like an extension of my computer.

The tablet also supports split-screen and floating windows, which makes multitasking more convenient. During my testing, I kept another app open on one side while browsing on our website.

Another addition is that WPS Office comes pre-installed, so I could start creating and editing Word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations right away without installing another office app.

8200mAh Battery, LTE Connectivity

Inside, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2 packs an 8,200mAh battery. For its thin design, it offers enough battery capacity that should be good for work, entertainment, and everyday use.
It’s also convenient since you won’t have to look for a power outlet every now and then just to charge the tablet during normal use.

And speaking of not having to look for things, you also won’t have to rely on Wi-Fi all the time. The TECNO MEGAPAD 2 comes with an LTE SIM card slot. Just insert a SIM card with a data plan, and you can browse the internet, reply to emails, attend online meetings, or continue working.

According to TECNO, the battery can last up to 74 days on standby. In other words, it can stay powered on for weeks when it’s not in active use.

Not only that, but it can also double as a power bank since it has reverse wired charging support to charge other compatible devices.

The TECNO MEGAPAD 2 is not only designed for work, but it might also be for students who need a reliable device for learning.

2.5K Eye-Care Large Screen

The TECNO MEGAPAD 2 has an 11-inch display with a 2.5K resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and up to 550 nits of brightness. It is also TÜV Rheinland Certified for Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technology, which can help reduce eye strain during long hours of use.

The display also gives students more screen space than a smartphone, making it easier to view documents, edit presentations, take notes, join online classes, browse the web, and watch videos.

AI Educational Assistant

As mentioned earlier, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2 also includes several learning features for students.

It comes with pre-installed tools like AI Problem Solving, which can provide step-by-step solutions to problems, and AI Translation, which supports translating multiple languages.

There’s also AI Painting, which can generate artwork from sketches and offers five different art styles.

Speaking of art, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2 also supports a stylus pen. This can make it easier for students or children who like to draw, sketch, write notes, or practice their creativity.

Another feature is LearnUp, which offers educational content for different age groups, including lessons, quizzes, and interactive activities.

Aside from that, the tablet also has Smart Hub, which lets you quickly access recent files and frequently used apps in one place.

You can also customize the AI Quick Button to open your favorite app with a single press. It’s a small feature, but it makes launching commonly used apps a bit faster.

The good thing is that these learning features are easy to use, free for lifetime, and come with no ads. I also appreciate the lack of ads since it helps students stay focused without unnecessary distractions.

Aside from these features, TECNO MEGAPAD 2 has still more to offer.

MediaTek Octa-core Processor

It is powered by the MediaTek MT8781, an octa-core processor built on a 6nm process. It’s not meant for heavy gaming or intensive editing, but it’s capable enough for everyday tasks like browsing the web, streaming videos, attending online classes or meetings, editing documents, and using productivity apps.

Speaking of videos, watching movies or shows won’t be a problem since it offers a quad-speaker setup tuned by DTS.

For those who plan to use it for work or school, the tablet also supports a Bluetooth keyboard, making it easier to type documents, emails, or notes. Pair that with the stylus support, and you have a setup that’s more comfortable for writing, sketching, annotating PDFs, or taking handwritten notes.

These accessories aren’t required to use the tablet, but they do make it more practical.

Price

As for the price, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2 comes in two configurations and is now available on Shopee and TikTok Shop.

The 6GB (+6GB Extended RAM) + 128GB variant is priced at PHP 16,999, while the 8GB (+8GB Extended RAM) + 256GB model retails for PHP 19,999.

Every purchase also comes with a free Bluetooth keyboard, which complements the tablet’s productivity-focused features, especially for typing documents or taking notes.

Verdict

Overall, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2 is a practical tablet for everyday use.

Of course, it’s not a tablet built for heavy gaming or demanding professional workloads. But if your priority is having a portable device for learning, productivity, entertainment, and light creative work, the TECNO MEGAPAD 2 offers a well-rounded experience without requiring much setup.
